Release Blitz and Book Review : Eastern Lights by Brittainy Cherry

3.75 Stars 🌟

Eastern Lights is the second book in the compass series. This book follows Connor & Aaliyah and even though it can be read as a standalone it I  suggest raeding Southern Storms (book 1) to get a better idea of who Connor. That book is where I fell in love with him and it made me enjoy this one that much more.

We get a deeper dive into Connor & everything he was dealing with when he was younger. My heart broke for him at times while my love for him grew more than I ever thought it would, though there was a time or two when I wanted to smack him over the head. He was charming, flirty, sexy, super sweet, compassionate and caring while still maintaining that youthful charm and humor we saw in Southern Storms. Seriously can I keep Connor?

Aaliyah is a new character and I found it hard to get a read on her to begin with. I didn't always agree with how she dealt with certain things or her choices but I still admired her, hurt for her & ultimately empathised with why she followed a path that wasn't always best for her, or why she had been putting up with circumstances that were mentally and emotionally painful. She was a lot stronger than she ever gave herself credit for even if it did take her a while to realise that.

Connor & Aaliyah's relationship wasn't easy. It had many complications and was surrounded by a lot of outside drama. I adored the way it began and how they formed an instant connection in such a fun and romantic way. The drama felt a little too much for my personal liking and slightly over the top to the point that it took away from the emotional build up and heart of the book. There werewere parts of the story felt predictable. One major plot twist included which I figured out real early on but that sort of thing doesn't bother me.

I still really enjoyed this story I just wish it had focused more on Connor & Aaliyah and less on the drama surrounding them individually and together. Had it focused on some of the drama and not all of it then the payoff would have been better as some of the way the story was wrapped up fell a little flat and didn't pack the full punch it could've.

The ending was a sweet one and I really enjoy the author's writing style. Its super easy to read and the way she sets up additional characters is so well done. I am very much looking forward to Damian's book. I knew fromfrom the minute he came on scene I wanted his story. I was intrigued by him and am glad his book is coming next.

Eastern Lights, an all-new moving second chance romance and second book in the Compass Series from bestselling author Brittainy Cherry is available now!

I once met a man on a cold Halloween night. He dressed as a superhero, and I dressed in red. For one night, I was his break from reality, and he was the temporary fix for my broken heart.

Two years later, I was given the opportunity of a lifetime to become a senior editor at one of the biggest magazine companies in the world. The only catch? Nail an exclusive interview with New York’s finest bachelor: Connor Roe.

To the rest of the world he was becoming one of the wealthiest men in New York City. To me, he was simply my once upon a time superhero.

My job was to get an exclusive interview with New York’s hottest bachelor. Never in my life did I expect him to want an exclusive with my heart, too.

The only problem with my growing feelings for him? I was set to marry his new business partner.
