Book Review : King of Souls by L.A. Cotton

4 Stars 🌟

King of Souls is the second book in the Verona Legacy series and the conclusion to Nicco & Arianne's Duet. It can not be read as a standalone as it is a continuation of Prince of Hearts. This story like part one is influenced by Romeo and Juliet.

KoS picks up right were PoH left off and we are thrown back into this world. This part of the duet had more angst, suspense, drama, heartbreak, intruige and grittiness to it and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Nicco is angry and devasted with everything that has been going on around him. He is holding it together the best he can but he is also having a hard time dealing with not being able to fix things while also wanting to reassure Ari that things will get better.

Ari is lost, confused, hurt, frustrated and beyond angry. She is dealing with feelings of betrayal and broken trust towards the man she thought would always protect her, her father. She is trying to understand why things are happening with her situation and trying to have faith that things will get better and that her and Nicco will find a way to be together. She is so much stronger than she even knows and even though at every turn she becomes more broken and defeated she has the strength and ability to save herself and watching her grow and heal was my favourite part of the story.

Ari & Nicco's story is full of pain, anguish, hurt and full of ups and downs with outside forces trying to tear them apart with choices being made that they have no control over. Throughout it all their connection only gets stronger and stronger and they love so deeply and fiercely. This was such a great conclusion and I'm loving this new world Lianne has created. The story ends on a soft cliffhanger that is setting up the next book for the next couple and I'm already craving it.
