Release Blitz and Book Review : Bury Me With Lies by S M Soto

3/5 Stars 🌟

Bury Me With Lies is book two in the Twin Lies Duet and CAN NOT be read as a standalone

This book takes place right where book 1 ended and to say I was a little underwhelmed is an understatement. The story held my attention enough to keep me reading but it just didn't go how I was expecting it to go. I found I struggled with the flow and outline of the story and feel the tone of majority of the book didn't live up to the expectations I had built after reading book 1 which could very well be a me problem.

The first 30% of the story was dealing with the aftermath of what happened at the end of book 1 and it was frustrating but also kind of intriguing and I actually enjoyed it a lot. I felt bad for Mackenzie and didn't like the way she was being treated but I thought hey its ok coz I'm sure in the end it'll come back around and maybe it's all part of a bigger plot or conspiracy theory and will somehow tie into the end (I had some theories and sadly none of that was the case) The entire first third was pretty much forgotten as the book went in a different direction which made me feel like it was kind of pointless to have spent so much time on that first third but thats just my opinion.

The rest of the story wasnt any different unfortunately. Yes we got answers on what happened the night Madison died but I also feel like we didn't get enough answers there was still so much more I wanted and needed especially from the point of trying to understand the girls parents coz yeah i still hate them and nothing they did made sense. Tbh this part of the story made me mad mostly.

There were so many instances where I wish the outcomes would've been different especially with the Savages and how their part of the story concluded. Mainly all of Vincent's storylines.

As for Baz and Mackenzie there was way too much lack of communication, miscommunication and lack of trust in each which I can honestly kind of understand with everything that happened but I also felt it to be unnecessary and for me it took away alot of their chemistry and the relationship that had been building and I lost that connection betweem them.

I honestly don't know how I feel about this book other than I just needed more from it. I personally did not feel like this part of the duet did the story any justice which is a shame as I thoroughly enjoyed book 1 (it was a 5 star read for me). The ending did say 'The End- for now' so I dont know what that is hinting at but if it means there is another book or part of the story still to come then that is further adding to my disappointment because I would've much rather this book be wrapped up nice and neatly but I just didnt get that.

I still think this is a story most people will enjoy it just wasnt for me.
